Industrial Visit- Indian Rare Earths Limited (IREL)

The I Year Mechanical Engineering students of Rohini College of Engineering & Technology were given the opportunity to attend an Industrial Visit on 14 March 2026 as part of their academic learning. The visit was organized to provide students with practical exposure to industrial operations and real-world applications of engineering concepts.

The students visited Indian Rare Earths Limited (IREL) and Jeppiaar Fishing Harbour. At IREL Manavalakurichi, students learned about the processing of rare earth minerals, industrial safety practices, and the functioning of different mechanical systems used in the plant. The officials explained the various stages involved in mineral separation and the importance of these minerals in different industries.

During the visit to Jeppiaar Fishing Harbour, students observed the working environment of the harbour, fishing vessel operations, and the handling and processing of marine products. The visit helped students understand the practical applications of mechanical engineering in marine and industrial sectors.

The industrial visit provided valuable insights and helped students bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Students actively observed the processes and interacted with the professionals to gain a better understanding of industrial operations.

The department expressed sincere gratitude to Dr. S. Kailainathan, Head of the Department, and Mr. K. Rajasuthan for their valuable support, encouragement, and guidance in organizing this industrial visit successfully.

Overall, the visit was highly informative and beneficial for the students, enhancing their technical knowledge and awareness of real-world industrial practices.
