COVID-19, a dreadful disease spreading all over the world and we people are under lockdown for the safety of others and also to secure ourselves. Even during this lockdown time, staying indoors, we the NSS volunteers of RCET united to spread the awareness on COVID-19.
Activity 1: COVID-19 AWARENESS SLOGAN POSTERS
We have designed COVID-19 awareness slogan posters and uploaded in the social networks (RCET official Facebook page, RCET official Whatsapp group, Instagram). It’s done in a motive to reach the people and make them stay safe inside their home.
Activity 2: MASKS, GLOVES AND SANITIZERS
We have distributed Face Masks, Gloves, Sanitizers and Hand wash liquids to various Police Stations (Kanyakumari, Suchindrum, Anjugramam and South Thamaraikulam), Administrative staff in the Nearby Village Offices, Panchayat Offices and Public. Also, distributed Masks and Sanitizers to the Doctors, Nurses and Policemen who have participated in the COVID-19 testing camp at Swamythoppu. More than 2000 staff and public were benefited by this activity.
Activity 3: GROCERY AND FOOD PACKAGING
The NSS volunteers of RCET have helped the needy peoples with the grocery items. They also served food for the poor people and helped those destitute by providing essential requirements to lead their life. The volunteers also encouraged the crowds to maintain social distancing. Since lockdown, many families have been starving without food and for them these offers really means a lot. More than100 families were benefited by this activity.
Activity 4: HERBAL DRINKING WATER (KABA SURA DRINKING WATER)
The NSS students, volunteers of Rohini College of Engineering & Technology have distributed the herbal drinking water (Kaba Sura Herbal Water) to the public for increasing the immunity power against Coronavirus at various places in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts. More than 25000 people are benefited by this activity.
Activity 5: EXPLAINING “AROGYA SETU” MOBILE APPLICATION
Our government has developed the “Aarogya Setu” mobile application in aiming at augmenting the initiatives of the Government of India, particularly the Department of Health and informing the users of the app regarding the risk, best practices and relevant advisories pertaining to the containment of COVID-19.
To make people aware about this, The NSS volunteers of RCET made a video regarding the step by step procedure of installing and using the app was uploaded in the YouTube [video link: https://youtu.be/3dvx6DgjeoA ]. So that it could reach all the people.
The staff and students of RCET compulsorily downloaded and used this “Aarogya Setu” mobile application inorder to create awareness on the importance of this application against COVID-19. More than 2500 members are benefited by this activity.
Activity 6: GROCERY AND FOOD PACKAGING
The NSS volunteers of RCET have helped the needy peoples with the grocery items. They also served food for the poor people and helped those destitute by providing essential requirements to lead their life.
More than 200 families are benefited by this activity in the Thickanamcode, Vizhunthayambalam, Mukadu, Pukadai, Pumkarai and Koliporvilai villages of Kanyakumari district.
Activity 7: COVID-19 AWARENESS THROUGH TELEPHONIC
CONVERSATION & MESSAGES
The government has been looking at various unique ways to make citizens aware of the coronavirus disease in India.
In a new move, Rohini College of Engineering & Technology has decided to help the government in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic by generating awareness on the disease in the student community of RCET through telephone calls followed by a message that alerts people about how to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease.
Every day, the staff and NSS volunteers of RCET have made a telephonic call and conversation with our college students and encourage them to create awareness on COVID-19 Pandemic. Also, we have asked our students to create coronavirus awareness among the family members and neighbors.
Hopefully, more than 25000 people are benefited by this awareness drive and to help the government in fighting the outbreak.
