The Department of Science and Humanities of Rohini College celebrated its Association day SAHAR on April 13, 2018. The celebration was organized under the auspices of the college management. The predominant purpose of the association is to celebrate the existence of the department in this college, to give due recognition to the staff and students for their academic achievement and to kindle the hidden potentials of students so that they could enthusiastically participate in the extracurricular activities. The association SAHAR also came up with a proposal to organizemthe Inter Department Symposium on Science and Engineering (IDSSE'18). It incorporated Paper Presentation, Science Project Expo and Quiz Competitions.
The inaugural function was held at The Opulent Hall in the Kalpana Chawla Block at 10.30 am. The programme was kick-started with the theme song on Science and Humanities. The occasion was graced by the Founder and Chairman of the Rohini College, Shri. K.NeelaMarthandam , Vice Chairman, K. Mohan Neela Judith, Managing Director, Dr. K. Neela Vishnu, Principal Dr. R Rajesh,Chief Guest,Dr. J.T. WinowlinJappes, Dr.Madhu Suresh, Head, Department of Science and Humanities and the Heads of various Departments, faculty members and students.
The lighting of the traditional lamp by the distinguished dignitaries filled everyone with the divine presence. Dr. Madhu Suresh introduced the Chief Guest to the gathering and gave an introductory speech marking the occasion. Our Principal Dr. R. Rajesh, while delivering the presidential address, exclaimed saying that he sees Dr. Abdul Kalam and Kalpana Chawla in the students. All the students were enthralled by his inspirational speech. The Chief Guest Dr. J. T.Winowlin gave a magnificent speech to motivate the students. He challenged them to bridge themselves between Dream and Reality in work. He also gave five daily reminders to boost their ability and to mention them. They are;"Iam amazing, I can do anything, Positivity is a choice, I celebrate my individuality, I am prepared to succeed." He advised the students to know themselves by purposeful thinking, identify strengths and weaknesses, discover their passion and ask for help. In the afternoon session, paper presentation, quiz competition and mini project were conducted. Furthermore, the Chairman and the Chief Guest awarded the prizes to the overall toppers, class toppers,faculty members and the winners of IDSSE'18.
Miss.I. NithyaSree of I Year ECE did a wonderful job keeping everything moving smoothly throughout the programme. Miss. Sulaiha extended a warm and cordial welcometo the gathering and Miss. Ashtami Suresh expressed her gratitude to the gathering. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
