“How is it that fire fighters run into a burning building when everyone is running out? The answer is Courage.”
On 14th April 2017,RCET organized the National Fire Service Day by honouring the persons those who are risking their life to save the Public. Mr. C. Sathya Kumar M.A , Station Fire Officer ,Kanyakumari delivered the Welcome Address.Mr. C.Kalyana Kumar, M.A,District Station Fire Officer was invited as Chief guest.Eventhough our institution has fire-fighting equipment, this event pointed towards a need to train people in fighting fire. Most people think that fire-fighting equipment, because they are red in colour, will automatically take care of fire. However, the equipment has to be operated and people must be trained in using them, especially as most people panic during a fire. The Fire and Emergency Services department made a demo for the students and faculties inside the campus about the precautionary methods to do before the arrival of the fire tenders. It tells them how to escape from a building with fire, how to save life of people, raise an alarm, operate extinguishers, and guide others into safe areas without panicking, said the Principal. The program was ended with the Vote of Thanks by Mr.A.Bala Chander,Station fire Officer(Transport).
