A Report on National Science Day

The Department of Science and Humanities under the auspices of the management of RCET, had celebrated the National Science Day on February 27, 2018. National Science Day is observed in India on February 28 every year to celebrate the discovery of the Raman Effect by an Indian physicist Sir ChandrasekharaVenkata Raman on February 28, 1928. For his discovery of theRaman Effect, Sir CV Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. He was the first Asian and first non-white to receive any Nobel Prize in the sciences.

In our college the National science day was celebrated in two sessions. In the first session, an awesome quiz programme was conducted for the students by quiz masterMr. C. Ananthan. And the second session began with the Tamilthai Vazhthu. College Chairman, Shri. K. NeelaMarthandam, Vice Chairman Dr. N. Neela Judith, Managing Director Dr. N. Neela Vishnu, Principal Dr. R. Rajesh, Heads of Various Departments and Chief Guest Dr.Murphy Alexander, Principal of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University College Palkulam, graced the Occasion. To mark the divine presence the traditional lamp was lit by the dignitaries. Ms. Nithya Sree from ECE, gave an Introduction to the National Science Day and led the programme. Ms. Marliya welcomed the gathering. Our Principal Dr. R Rajesh delivered the presidential address. He inspired the students with his informative talk, which comprised our great nation’s astounding achievements in science. Dr. Madhu Suresh, head, Department of Science and Humanities introduced the guest speaker of the day. Then the chief guest Dr. Murphy Alexander addressed the gathering. He enriched the students with his inspiring speech. Dr. Alexander motivated them to work hard until their signature becomes as an autograph and to become a successful person in life just like the scientists of Indian Nation. The Chief Guest also distributed the prizes to the winners and congratulated them on their achievement. Ms. Sulaiha delivered the Vote of Thanks and the celebration was wrapped up with the National Anthem.
